  • Helsinki area 2–3 working days
  • other parts of Finland 3–5 working days

The goods will be delivered to the client on a working day at 17.00 at the latest. No call is made in advance.

Sending a parcel

Before going to the parcel terminal, place an order in the Smartpost e-service.

In order to do that:

  • Choose Finland from the list;
  • Then fill in the sender and addressee details;
  • Measure the parcel and choose an appropriate locker size for it;
  • Check the details of the sender and the addressee and choose a suitable payment method;
  • Once the order is confirmed, a unique door code that you can use to insert the parcel into the parcel terminal will be generated on the screen. The door code is also automatically sent to the sender’s email address specified in the order and if you wish you can send an SMS containing the door code to the addressee’s phone number free of charge.

NB! The door code is valid for 30 days in all Smartpost parcel terminals all over Estonia.

  • Pack all the items into a single box and seal it securely
  • Write the names and phone numbers of the sender and the addressee on the parcel
  • Go to the nearest parcel terminal
  • Follow the instructions on the screen
  • Pay with a bank card
  • Place the parcel in the locker and close the door
  • Smartpost will then deliver the parcel to the address provided in the order.

Requirements for parcels

  • the outer packaging can withstand a diagonal fall from a height of 100 cm;
  • liquids do not seep out of the containers meant for transporting them;
  • the containers meant for transporting liquids or powders are hermetically sealed and the containers have in turn been packaged in durable transport packaging (corrugated cardboard box, plastic box, wooden box, etc.);
  • the parcel has been packed in a way that the contents of the parcel cannot be accessed without damaging the packaging;
  • appropriate packing accessories (corner protectors, cushioning materials, filling material, etc.) have been used to pack fragile items;
  • the packaging is not excessively large for the goods;
  • the packaging is capable of withstanding the weight of 4-5 similar packages placed on top of it.
  • Maximum weight 35 kg. Minimum weight: 250 g.
  • Minimum package dimensions are: 25 cm * 15 cm * 3.5 cm.

Package dimensions and materials

  • Packaging should be selected based on the size of the contents, and the material of the packaging must be such as to preserve the integrity and condition of the contents during transport – excessively large boxes with little content may be crushed, while overfilled packaging may tear open.
  • The packaging material must be sufficiently durable so as not to be damaged by the contents. Unsuitable packaging may injure or soil parcel handlers or other delivered parcels.
  • For inner packaging, the contents of the parcel must be secured against shifting around inside the packaging. If necessary, for inner packaging, goods must be secured against shifting using foam rubber, bubble wrap, plastic shredding, corrugated cardboard, corner protectors, special air cushions or other similar materials, as well as various tensioning films and nets.

Fragile items

  • Fragile items must be packaged in such a way as to reduce the risk of breakage during transport. Place fragile items in the middle of the parcel, where they do not touch the sides of the packaging.
  • Fragile goods must be packaged in separate break-resistant casings so as to prevent contact between different items and shifting inside the packaging during transport. Any empty space inside the packaging must be filled with stuffing materials.
  • Fragile goods must be packaged in a break-resistant cardboard box and parcel contents must be secured against shifting inside the packaging using internal supports where necessary.

Sharp objects

  • When packaging sharp objects, consider the safety of other parcels: the packaging material must be strong enough to keep the objects securely inside the packaging and prevent them from cutting it open. Sharp edges must be covered with protectors, e.g. a plastic or wooden protector.

Liquids

  • When shipping products filled with a liquid or semi-liquid substance, the products must be placed inside hermetically sealed containers, which must in turn be packaged securely in a sealed container or bottle. Wide-mouth containers must be placed inside a plastic bag and sealed in such a way as to prevent the liquid from leaking from the parcel.
  • Liquid containers must be packaged in a break-resistant cardboard box and secured against shifting inside the packaging. The packaging must be filled with an absorbent substance to absorb the fluid in case of breakage of the bottle or container.
  • Substances in powder form must be tightly packed into a bag, box or container. The bag, box or container must then be placed inside break-proof packaging and secured against shifting, using inner supports where necessary.

Sealing the package

  • All items to be delivered must be packaged.
  • No additional items may be affixed to the packaging.
  • Packaging must not have any loose edges or protruding parts.
  • Packaging must be sealed on all sides and any information necessary for delivering the parcel must be visible.

It is prohibited to send the following items and goods with the Smartpost service:
