Additional information about data breach incident in 2022

In November 2022 Itella Estonia OÜ received a notification from the Estonian Information System Authority about a data breach. We immediately began investigating the situation, eliminated the cause of the breach from the system, made notifications to the authorities concerned and were in contact with customers affected. The case was investigated by the authorities.

Based on the findings of the investigations, the requested measures to ICT systems and protocols were taken. Necessary legal actions were also initiated to ensure the best possible outcome for all involved parties, especially the data subjects whose data was actively made publicly available online by the person who committed the breach.

Regarding the detailed outcome of these actions, we honor the agreed confidentiality obligation with the person concerned.

Itella Estonia takes data security extremely seriously

As part of Posti Group, we continuously study and develop the information security of our systems. In addition, Posti uses bug bounty programs for encouraging to discover and report vulnerabilities in the digital assets. Hacking systems is a crime that according to the authorities, shall be reported to the police. We work in close cooperation with the authorities and based on the findings, take appropriate action when needed. Our aim is to act in a responsible manner in accordance with statutory and official regulations. Regarding the incident in 2022, this is exactly what we did.
