Smartpost Itella transitions to the SmartPosti brand
Smartpost Itella, part of the Finnish Posti Group, will adopt the new SmartPosti brand in the first half of 2025, dropping the current Itella name and moving even closer to its parent company, Posti Group. The transition to the SmartPosti brand name will occur in all three Baltic countries. In addition to announcing the brand change, the company will also launch its first outdoor parcel machines this fall.
Posti is one of the leading logistics companies in Finland, Sweden, and the Baltics, offering services such as parcel machines, road transportation, comprehensive warehouse logistics, courier, and express delivery services. The company employs approximately 17,000 people in the countries where it operates.
“We offer our customers a reliable and fast logistics value chain that reaches millions of businesses and consumers,” said Gediminas Mickus, head of Smartpost Itella in the Baltic States. “We aim to operate clearly and consistently across all regions, which is why we have decided to use a unified Posti brand in both the Nordics and the Baltics (under the SmartPosti name in the Baltics and the Posti name in Sweden). By harmonizing and streamlining our operating models, we have been building a unified Posti for a long time. This change will help us be clearer and more understandable both internally and for our customers,” he added.
According to Mickus, operating under the unified Posti brand will help strengthen the company’s image as a versatile and strong logistics partner. “Posti’s strategic growth focus is on Sweden and the Baltics, and the unified brand supports our ambitions in these markets in the coming years,” Mickus emphasized.
The brand change will be implemented at the beginning of 2025. The construction of Smartpost Itella’s new sorting center, which began this summer in Rae parish, is also expected to be completed at the beginning of 2025. The new sorting center, with an investment of approximately 14 million euros, will be the largest of Posti’s sorting centers in the Baltics.
“The completion of the new sorting center will symbolically coincide with our transition to the SmartPosti brand. Our goal remains to maintain our position as the quality leader in the market and respond swiftly to changes in market dynamics, which today are driven by the growth of e-commerce,” Mickus explained.
To enhance customer convenience, the company will install new outdoor parcel machines this fall, allowing goods to be ordered and collected 24/7.
The transition to the Posti name will begin in Estonia in the first half of the new year. “This change gives us a clear advantage in the market and strengthens our position in the logistics sector, helping us better meet the needs and expectations of our customers,” added Gediminas Mickus.
